The Story of the Bible:
- About our history, the Bible says that—
- - God is in charge of it
- - God has always been involved with it
- Four biblical main themes can summarize the history of mankind: Creation, Fall, Redemption, and Restoration
- - This begins to answer your test short answer #2
- - Take notes on page 1

Creation: What does the Bible teach about this?
- God is Eternal: He has always existed
- God is Creator: He made everything
- God put humans into 4 main relationships:
- - Relationship with God: God wants a relationship of authentic obedience & love from each of us
- - Relationship w/ourselves: We are made ‘in God’s image,’ w/an identity & self-esteem, We each of purpose & value as God’s creation
- - Relationship w/others: Which make up key pieces of society (families, governments, churches—the 3 main social institutions)
- - Relationship w/creation: We are responsible to care for the world, plants & animals, alike!
- And it shares that when God was done, everything was "Very Good!"

Fall:
- If everything was "Very Good," what happened?
- - Being made in God’s image allowed us to make our own decisions
- - We didn’t have to follow God like a robot
- People choose to do bad things: This is what Christians call "sin"
- - We broke off our relationship w/God
- - This led to suffering & death
- - This broke our other 3 relationships—
- - - Relationships w/self, others, & creation
- The Consequences:
- - Because of God's justice: We deserved to die for our sins
- - Because of God's love: He wanted to heal us, He didn’t want us to stay broken!

Redemption: To buy something back
- God created a way to bring humanity back into a special relationship w/Himself:
- - How?
- - - He had Jesus pay the penalty for our sin
- - - - To die the death that we deserved
- - - - Jesus 'redeemed’ by paying the price of death to save us (get us back)
- - - He died in our place, allowing our relationship with God to be healed.
- - - - See Genesis 3:15, 21; John 3:16-21, Acts 17:24-31
- - Ultimately healing our other 3 relationships: w/self, others, & creation
- Want to know how to enter this new relationship w/God?
- - Ask me or any other teacher at any time this year!

Restoration:  History is concluded as God returns:
- God judges everyone: w/punishments & rewards!
- - Punishment: Those w/o a relationship w/Him are forever separated from Him
- - Reward: Those w/a relationship w/Him are made perfect & forever w/Him
- The *bad* world is destroyed:
- - The world is remade w/no problems or sins!
- - Paradise is restored!
- - Everything is made "Very Good!" forever!
