- - They can live however they want to
- - They may like only believing in things you can ‘prove’
- How do they answer the Ultimate Questions?
- - Origins: Something natural caused it
- - Meaning: There is none naturally, you make your own
- - Morality: You or your culture decide this
- - Destiny: You die & you are forever gone

- Atheism: “The world as we see it”
- - The belief that there is no spiritual reality (e.g. God)
- - - And that the physical universe is all that is real
- Examples:
- - Nihilism: Life is meaningless, nothing you do matters
- - Materialism: Collect & enjoy material things (stuff)
- - Hedonism: Try to enjoy life in whatever way you want
- - Humanism: Try to make human life better
- Agnosticism: Agnostics are not technically Atheists
- - Agnostics believe a god could exist
- - But, they think that we cannot really know for a fact if there is a god
- - Or, they personally feel that they do not yet have enough evidence to believe.
- What do Pocahontas, Obi-Wan, & Yoda have in common?
- - All three are Pantheists!

- 3) Why is Transcendentalism such a popular worldview?
- - “The natural bent of the human mind” – CS Lewis
- - “The world as we want it” – Dr. Brown
- - People are thought to be naturally good & divine (not sinful)
- - The answers to life’s mysteries are found deep inside us
- - It has benefits of spirituality w/o accountability to a god
- 4) Why are many celebrities attracted to it? - - Their culture believers that meaning in life and morals are found inside yourself (just like transcendentalism does)

- - Meaning: Found in seeing the divinity in yourself and all else
- - Morality: Do what leads to peace and one-ness
- - Destiny: Everyone will someday lose their personal identity and become one as ‘god’
